Here are the Places You Should Visit in Baku

Here are the Places You Should Visit in Baku

After Georgia, my journey continues to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. For me, I’ve heard about Baku when the city hosted the Formula 1 race a few years back. Also, Baku hosted a Europa League in 2019 where Arsenal become the finalist but then lost to Chelsea. That’s where I heard Baku. But, Baku is so much more than just a sports event. Once you landed on the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, you will understand why this city is developing rapidly (thanks to the oil money, of course). You can see how futuristic Baku is from their modern architecture, but somehow their traditional value is still very viscous.

I spent 3 nights in Baku and for me, those days were enough to wander around the city. So if you are curious about what kind of places I visited during my journey in the Caucasus’ largest city, here they are…

Georgia Is So Underrated

Georgia is so Underrated!

It is Georgia the country, not the states in the US. And yes, you should definitely visit Georgia!

At first, I never dream about visiting Georgia. I wasn’t really aware of the country until I live in Istanbul. Since now I live in Turkey, which geographically bordered with Georgia, so the interest to visit the country popped up. Even Georgia can be reached from Istanbul by 24 hours bus trip. But no, I think I couldn’t bear with 24 hours road trip, not if I still have those flight ticket promo options.

Long story short, I visited Georgia with my parents this summer. They insisted to go there and other Central Asia countries. To be honest, I am not excited about this trip at first. For me, East or West Europe is more tempting than the Caucasus. But then, you will never know if you never try. So I give it a go.

Review: Regalia Suites Kuala Lumpur

Hotel Review

Since I booked a flight ticket to Kuala Lumpur, I immediately browse for the accommodation. I planned this trip to be a slow one, which doesn’t have exact itineraries so that is why decent accommodation is important as I just want to spend most of my times in the hotel. Then a post about Regalia Suites Kuala Lumpur popped up in a travel forum I joined in Facebook.

Apparently, Regalia Suites is popular amongst the group’s member. There are so many positive reviews about the property in the group. It is basically an apartment complex and the owner are renting their apartment unit. I think you can find that is personally managed by the owner in Airbnb or the one that is managed professionally by the hotel management in sites like Booking, Agoda, and Traveloka.

Paris is Different Than I Expected

Paris, finally. They said it’s a city of love, a city of light, a city of fashion, and a city of dream. Its famous Eiffel Tower has been the wallpaper of my desktop and phone during my adolescence time. Quote said a bad day in Paris is better than anywhere else. Audrey Hepburn also once said, “Paris is always a good idea.” But is it tho?

I came to Paris with millions of excitement. I have these high expectations of Paris. I picture Paris just like in the Midnight in Paris movie. But people say, set your expectations low.

Processed with VSCO with c6 preset

I remember bluntly the first time I watched the World Cup. It was 2002 when the biggest football competition held in Korea & Japan. Vodafone Park (Besiktas JK) Stadium Tour

BJK Stadium Tour

Before I went to Turkey, I’ve heard that football league in Turkey is as good as in Europe. The quality of the football club is great with top-notch players, maybe you know Robin van Persie that played for Fenerbahce, Sneijder and Podolski for Galatasaray, or Pepe who played for Besiktas. Apparently, the famous football club in Turkey are Besiktas, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahce. By famous I mean, world famous. It’s like the big 3 that always compete to get the first rank in the table.

Okay, I am not that familiar with Turkey’s Football League or as they called it Süper Lig. When everyone here knows that I like football, they started to ask which is my favorite football team in Turkey. So I started to learn about the football situation here, starting from knowing their stadium. Because a stadium tells a thousand history, right?
